RSS SEALANT is an advanced, hybrid polymer sealant/adhesive designed for use in indoor and outdoor applications, especially in construction applications for waterproofing of extremely wet
areas as part of the RSS Shower System. RSS Sealant creates a fully sealed system wherein leaks are eliminated and the potential for mold grown and efflorescence are greatly reduced. RSS Sealant adheres to most materials including wood, stone, concrete, marble, aluminum, vinyl, PVC, many plastics, and more.

FEATURES:

Applies to wet surfaces High strengtah adhesion
UV resistant Permanently flexible
Color stable Will not shrink or crack
Non-Yellowing Easy clean-up
Cures quickly Solvent free – Low V.O.C.’s

SPECIFICATIONS: RSS Sealant meets ASTM-C920, ASTM-G26 performance specifications. RSS Sealant also meets Federal Spec TTS-0230C and is USDA accepted.

DIRECTIONS: Area where sealant is to be applied must be clean and free of grease, oil, and other contaimants or debris prior to application. Cut nozzle of cartridge to desired bead size and puncture inner foil seal. Insert into standard caulking gun. While holding at an approximately forty-five degree angle, apply by pushing sealant ahead of nozzle to achieve a full, smooth seal. If necessary, tooling may be performed. Clean up with warm water prior to drying; after product has set, removal via mechanical methods is required. Store in a cool, dry location in temperatues above freezing.

WARNING

Causes skin irritation. May cause allergic skin reaction. Causes serious eye irritation. Avoid breathing vapor. Contaminated clothing should not be allowed to leave the workplace. Wear protective clothing, gloves, and eye protection. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do so. Continue rinsing. If skin irritation or rash occurs or if eye irritation persists, get medical attention. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Wash hands and exposed skinthoroughly after handling. Dispose of contents and container in accordance with local and national regulations

RSS Wallboard

  • RSS Boards are usually installed in showers or even steam rooms if sealed off properly
  • RSS Boards come already water proofed, which makes life a lot easier
  • With RSS Board you can prepare an entire shower in half the time it would take to prepare a traditional mud pack shower with hardi backer walls where you have to also water proof over the hardi backer

Product description

RSS boards are made of high-performance waterproof extruded polystyrene, it has a 1mm coating on either side comprising a glass fiber mesh embedded in a polymer-cement mortar.

The boards should be stored dry and flat. Slight bowing caused by incorrect storage or transport, for example, is not permanent and does not represent a technical defect. Slight curving can be rectified through storing the boards flat.

Installation instructions

1. Arrange to minimize joints and cutouts to fit tightly against adjacent construction.

  • Joints and edges must be located over and supported by framing members or structural components acceptable to the project engineer.
  • Allow minimum ¼ inch (6 mm) set back of all edges and cuts for penetrations and obstructions.
  • Butt joints over inch (3 mm) will not be accepted.
  • Extend beyond baker board minimum 3 inches (75 mm).

2. Fasten tightly direct into building structure until screw heads are flush with the surface but do not cut into facing materials. Fasten at perimeter and fields no less than 8 inches (200 mm) on center and 1 inch (25 mm) from edges and corners.

3. Overlap waterproofing between adjacent board to ensure a watertight seal. Roll seams with manufactures recommended tools.

4. Coordinate construction sequence with installation of adjacent materials provided by others.

Note:  Working temperature range: -500 to +800 C

RSS Drain installation

Step 1. Install the RSS drain assembly by first dry fitting the drain onto the waste pipe making sure that our drain will be level and that the bonding flange will be a minimum of 1” above the existing plywood substrate or concrete slab.

Step 2. Now you are ready to prime and cement glue the RSS drain body to the waste pipe.

Step 3. Next, secure and level the drain body.
a) For wood floors use four non-corrosive screws to level and secure the drain body.
b) For concrete slab floors, fill in box-outs in the concrete floors with dry-pack mortar also packing the mortar around the waste pipe and RSS drain, including under the drain bonding flange.

Step 4. Install the mortar bed ensuring a 1/4” consistent slope toward the drain hole.

Step 5. Apply thin-set mortar to the floor area from the outer edge of the drain bonding flange outward.

Step 6. Now, apply a bead of sealant around the drain hole opening as shown in the installation video on our web page www.revolutionaryshowersystems.com and install RSS waterproofing membrane.

Note: Press down the RSS waterproofing membrane squeezing the sealant toward the drain hole and the thin-set mortar outward toward the perimeter of the shower..

Attention: Most do, but not all cities allow PVC waste drains. Check with your local building inspection agency. We accept no responsibility for code violations.

Step 7. Complete the installation of the RSS waterproofing membrane. View RSS video for the
waterproofing membrane installation instructions.

Step 8. When you are ready to install the drain assembly, insert drain height adjustment sleeve. You may need to cut excess sealant and membrane out to give movement to the drain.

Step 9. Remove drain grate prior to grouting to protect the finish and hassle of cleanup or tape
top of the grate housing and grate to protect it during grouting.

Congratulation, you have just installed your first RSS drain!

RSS Shower Curb

Rss shower curb is built out of high density EPS foam
Its density is measured at 3 pounds per cubic foot
Its coating is made of fiberglass mesh and high polymer cement resin on three sides of the curb
the two dove tail groves on the bottom of the curb help create an unbreakable bond when the thinset cures.
It also has a waterproof coating applied, which exceeds ANSI A118.10 and ANSI A118.12 industry standards

Installation of RSS Shower Curb

When you are ready to install RSS shower curb please make sure curb area is clean of all debris and paint

Apply modified thinset on the floor area where Rss curb will be installed

Take the curb flip it over with dove tail groves upward and with flat part of trowel apply modified thinset onto the curb and also where curb meets Rss shower pan about 1.5 inches on the side where it meets the pan

RSS Waterproofing Membrane
Membrane used for shower systems

  • Manufactured to provide a consistent layer of protection throughout your wet area
  • Vapor barrier and waterproof load bearing membrane for wall or floor
  • Signature fleece weave for optimal tile adhesion

Product Description

RSS Waterproof Fabric Membrane is a polyethylene waterproofing membrane with spun polypropylene anchor webbing on both sides to anchor the membrane into thin-set mortar. It is primarily used to create a vapor and waterproof barrier to protect the integrity of building structures from moisture, mold and decay, and generally used in conjunction with tiled surface of showers, steam rooms, and wet rooms. Tiles can be installed directly onto RSS waterproof fabric membrane using a layer of modified or unmodified thin-set mortar.

Installation instructions

Ensure a clean surface and cut the membrane to size before application. Apply unmodified or modified thin-set mortar to substrate using a V-notched trowel.
Press the membrane fully into the thin-set and avoid air bubbles. Wait at least 24 hours before water testing to ensure waterproof.
Seams can be built by overlapping the edges by a minimum of 2” or by covering the joints with the RSS Fabric Band Strips.
Apply unmodified or modified thin-set mortar over the membrane to install tiles.

Note:

RSS Waterproof Membrane can be installed any direction provided a 2” overlap is always observed and upper layers (higher in elevation), lap over top (outside) of the lower elevation layers.
Occasionally lift the membrane to make sure the thin-set is fully saturating the webbing of the membrane, ensuring that the thin-set is not too dry.
